Interview by ORF - transmitted on March 16, 1995, on occasion of the opening of the movie 'The Troublemakers'

You both represent a more or less inseparable couple in your movies, although you are in trouble now and then. Allegedly, you are not supposed to get along well in real life, is this true?
Terence:"We are the greatest friends. We are very good friends although we have different personalities, which we found out in the many years we have worked together. That's the truth." Bud:"On the screen, we are enemies. We have been enemies in our movies for 29 years. But in normal life we've always been friends."

But why haven't you made any movies together for such a long time?
Terence:"We couldn't stand each other anymore!" (Laughs)
Bud:"How many years haven't we been working together?"
Terence: "Count! '85, '86, '87... you say 9 years?" Bud:"8 years." Terence:"8 years?"

Bud Spencer, do you have an explanation for the fact that your movies are so successful in Europe but less successful in the USA?
Bud:"The American audience doesn't accept actors with an accent. I don't speak perfect English - Terence does, but I don't. I speak English with an accent, and it's necessary - especially when I work in a western - not to have an accent because a cowboy with an accent sounds strange. So I have to be dubbed but the American audience doesn't like that."

Is there any particular character or part that you would like to play or is there a director that you would like to work with?
Bud:"For 29 years, I have been playing the 'same' character. I am not an actor in a way, I am a 'type'."

Terence Hill?
Terence:"I also don't have any particular part that I would like to play. My favorite director is Peter Weir (eg.'Dead Poets Society', 'The Truman Show' - Ed.) but a part that I would like to play... there is not any particular one."

Does that mean that we could look forward to more encounters of you both? Would that be possible?
Terence:"Yeah, if we don't start fighting with each other in real life... (Laughs) I'm kidding, I'm kidding!"

Thank you for having been here and best wishes and success for the opening for your new movie today. ('The Troublemakers')
