Terence Hill has received the 'Outstanding Actor of the
Year' award (for 'DON MATTEO') at the 42nd International
Television Festival of Monte Carlo (Monaco) in 2002. The
'Outstanding European Producer of the Year' award went to
Alessandro Jacchia, producer of Don Matteo (Lux Vide).
The Festival was created in 1961 by His Highness Prince
Rainier III of Monaco who wished "to encourage a new
art form, in the service of peace and understanding between
men". This initiative on the part of the Prince
ideally suited Monaco's international vocation.
The aim
was to use television as an exceptional means of bringing
people together and enriching their culture. From the
beginning, the project created great international
interest: Celebrities accepted to take part in successive
prize-awarding juries, the quality of which was acknowledged
worldwide.
